An ADU project is a year-long relationship between a crew and a homeowner who is making a six-figure decision. The work we do at Ellery ADU Studio is not service-call work. It is design, permitting, site prep, framing, utilities, and finish – in that order, documented at every step, with a written price that does not change between the estimate and the invoice. That is what the Haven Standard means in practice, and it is what makes working here different from most construction jobs you have had. The drawings, the permit set, and the build are one contract. When something is off, we fix it – no designer to blame, no subcontractor to chase. The accountability lives with this crew.
Who We’re Looking For
- ADU Site Prep Installer: You grade lots, coordinate utility connections, and understand what a soils report is telling you before the first shovel moves.
- Garage Conversion Specialist: You can read a set of permitted drawings, spot what the drawings say versus what the existing framing actually shows, and flag the discrepancy before it becomes a change order.
- Detached ADU Framing & Finish Carpenter: You frame clean, you finish tighter, and you understand that a documented photo record means your work will be seen – so you work like it.
- Junior ADU & Interior Conversion Technician: You do well in tight spaces, you communicate clearly with homeowners who are still living in the main house, and you do not leave a job site without a walkthrough.
- Permitting & Design Coordinator: You track plan check comments the way other people track their own calendar – nothing slips, every response is filed, and you know which jurisdiction is running eight weeks behind before we submit.
- Client Services & Dispatch Coordinator: You are the person a homeowner reaches when they call the number on the page. You answer – not a queue, not a voicemail – and you can hold a conversation about permit timelines and project sequencing without guessing.
What We Offer

Real Training and a Documented Path Forward
We do not hand you a tool bag and point you at a job site. Apprentices at Ellery start inside the documentation system: you learn how we read permit drawings, how we record site conditions, and why the photo record is not optional. The path from apprentice to lead is not based on seniority alone – it is based on what you can demonstrate and what the project record shows. Leads earn that designation because the documentation proves they are ready, and they know exactly what they are being evaluated on.
Work You Can Stand Behind
Every project at Ellery starts with a written price and ends with a documented photo record. That matters for your work life in a way that is easy to underestimate until you have worked somewhere that does not do it: you will never be asked to finish a job quietly or hand a client something you are not proud of. The 365-Day Done Right Promise means we do not walk away from a project that is not right – and that standard applies to how we treat the crew as much as how we treat the finished product.
National Brand, Local Crew
Ellery ADU Studio is part of the Haven family – a group of ten home-service brands that share one operating standard, one documentation system, and one guarantee. What that means for you is buying power, a recognizable name that opens doors with permit offices, and prefab brand relationships with manufacturers including Abodu, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, and Plant Prefab. You work with your local crew and your local jurisdiction. The national infrastructure is behind you when it matters.
Steady, Substantive Demand
ADU demand is not seasonal the way paint or landscaping is. Homeowners across the country are adding rental units, multigenerational suites, and home offices – and the permitting and construction cycle for each one runs months, not days. Since 2015 we have designed, permitted, and built more than 900 ADUs. The pipeline is real and the work is consistent, which means you can plan your own life around it.
No Experience? Read This.
If you have spent time in construction, renovation, property management, or any trade – plumbing, electrical, finish work, landscaping – you have more relevant experience than you think. The specific ADU vocabulary is learnable. The judgment about how to work inside a homeowner’s property, how to read a room when something unexpected comes up on site, how to communicate a problem without creating panic – that is harder to teach, and if you have it, we want to talk to you.
The first months at Ellery are structured. You shadow a lead on active projects. You learn the documentation system – how we photograph site conditions, how we record what we found versus what the drawings showed, how we file. You learn what a permit set looks like and what plan check comments mean. We do not expect you to arrive knowing all of it. We expect you to arrive willing to learn it carefully, because in this business, the detail everyone missed in the review meeting is the one that tends to cost money later.
How to Apply

Call us at (971) 497-2402 – a live person will answer – or use the application form below. Tell us where you are based, what you have worked on (trade work, construction, coordination, or client-facing roles all count), and when you could start. Hiring is local: your application goes to the Ellery crew nearest you. There is no national queue. If we have an opening in your area, someone on that local team will follow up directly.
